Recently, Guangzhou ZEER Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. has strengthened its strategic partnership with German Kupplungswerk Dresden AG (KWD AG), formally obtaining exclusive distribution rights for KWD industrial couplings in China. This collaboration marks a significant expansion of the partners’ longstanding railway cooperation, establishing a more efficient and comprehensive localized service and supply system.

About KWD AG

Established in 1887 and headquartered in Dresden, Germany, KWD AG boasts over 130 years of expertise as a specialized coupling manufacturer. As a Tier-1 supplier to Deutsche Bahn, KWD possesses core technologies for rail transit drivetrains. Its products are widely deployed in high-speed trains, metros, trams, rack railways, and electric locomotives, making it Europe’s sole manufacturer providing couplings for all rail vehicle types.

ZEER-KWD Collaboration Legacy

Since its inception, Guangzhou ZEER Electromechanical has focused on electrical and mechanical interface solutions for rail systems. Building on deep industry expertise, ZEER partnered with KWD in 2015 to establish Coupling Union (Changzhou) Co., Ltd., specializing in advanced maintenance (overhauls), local assembly, and after-sales services for KWD rail couplings. With technical training and quality oversight from German headquarters, the Changzhou facility has become KWD's key service center in China.

    • EZK: flexible jaw couplings with axial/radial/angular compensation, vibration damping, blind-installation capability (-30℃ to +80℃)

    • ELKU/ELKU-N: flexible claw couplings with brake disc/spacer options (25–100,000 Nm)

    • BOKU/BOKU-N: flexible pin type couplings for heavy-duty applications (up to 1,000,000 Nm)

  2. Highly elastic couplings, highly elastic clutches

    • HEK/HESK Series: High vibration isolation, large misalignment tolerance (1,000–160,000 Nm), optional pneumatic control

  3. Torsional stiff bending flexible couplings

    • MEM Series: Zero-backlash, maintenance-free for high-speed/high-torque (100–100,000 Nm); compliant with API 671; ideal for traction, turbines, generators

    • GMK Series: All-metal, backlash-free with high stiffness and compensatory flexibility for axial/angular displacement (radial in DE type). Maintenance-free, fatigue-resistant (up to 250°C)

  4. Gear couplings & gear coupling cardan shafts

    • ZAKU Gear Couplings: Vertical/horizontal installation, high misalignment capacity (250–1,250,000 Nm)

    • ZKGW Universal Shaft Couplings: Integrated universal joint design (±14° angular error), high-power transmission for long shaft spans

  5. Hydrodynamic couplings

    • TK‑N Series: Soft-start impact absorption, vibration reduction (up to 1,750 kW); ideal for multi-motor systems with high inertia; configurable designs (AVZ, GMK hybrids)

  6. Non positive locking clutches and brakes FDLB/LB, Multi-Disc Systems: Industrial safety starts, overload protection, wet/dry operation (16–150,000 Nm)
